Prefect: LOUKAS KATSAROS The Prefect of Larissa, Mr. Loukas Katsaros is professor of Botanical Forestry in the Technological Education Institute of Larissa. Mr. Loukas Katsaros graduated from the department of Forestry of the School of Forestry and Natural Environment of the Aristotelio University of Thessaloniki. He continued his postgraduate studies on Botanical Economics and Environmental management and in 1991 he was nominated doctor in the School of Forestry and Natural Environment of the University of Thessaloniki. With the experience he gained working in the private sector he becomes in 1980 professor in the Forestry department of Technological Education Institute of Larissa, where he develops significant scientific and research work. On the same time he develops important political action. He becomes president of the University Professor’s Association in the Technological Education Institute of Larissa. In 1990 he was appointed Prefect of Kozani where for a three year period develops manifold activities focusing mainly on the development of infrastructures in the Prefecture. In 1998 Mr. Loukas Katsaros was voted by the 47% of the citizens of the prefecture of Larissa and served for 4 years as the head of the prefectural opposition party.
